Thanks Denise Handlon! My interest began when my daughter was young. She had a plastic President placemat, and she memorized their names and numbers by the time she was five. We still laugh -- she mispronounced a few - John Quinky Adams and James Butchenanan.

WillStarr, Thanks! It was fun to do. Do you have a favorite President?

Thanks Twilight Lawns! You may know about our country than many of the citizens here. Traditionally, we know little about history and geography. Thanks for taking the trip across the pond to visit.

Ashantina, Thanks! It is nice to have a holiday this month. And you know schoolchildren love it. When I was young, we didn't have many of the holidays we enjoy now including Spring Break, MLK Day, Presidents Day . . . Oops; maybe that is why students know so little of their history/geography as I mentioned before to Twilight Dawns. Out of school too much on holidays!

Truckstop Sally profile image

Truckstop Sally Hub Author 15 months ago

Thanks kashmir56! I purposely wanted to stay away from the "political" aspect of their elections/performance -- so not to step on any feet or create any tension. Glad you enjoyed!

dragonflyfla, Thanks! Truly an interesting group. Some fun coincidences too -- 6 named James (if you inlcude Jimmy Carter) 5 named Jack . . . I see you have some hubs that I am very interested in. I'll be back to read more carefully and comment.

Thanks bMalin. I have lots and lots of books about the Presidents. (As I mentioned earlier, my daughter became interested at an young age). I guess I should go back in and site my sources. And, of course getting a day off is big too. Ha!

Lindacee, Thanks! You are so right! We need to learn about history, and if it can be fun -- go for it.

One of my goals is to read biographies of all the presidents. Did President Arthur fish and play banjo at the same time? Only joking.

Truckstop Sally profile image

Truckstop Sally Hub Author 15 months ago

What a great goal dahoglund! I am sure some would be quite interesting. In the little bit I have read, Warren Harding must have been involved in lots of foul play. Isn't that amazing about Garfield writing with both hands at the same time and in different languages. I can barely write with one hand in my own native language!

Great fun reading this. I laughed at Andrew Jackson's parrot. Wonder where he learned the swearing? And John Q. Adams' skinny dipping? Never would have imagined. My favorite was always Good Old Abe. Happy President's Day.

Truckstop Sally profile image

Truckstop Sally Hub Author 15 months ago

Thanks PegCole17. Glad you enjoyed. I have a whole book on Presidents' pets - Wackiest White House Pets by Gibbs Davis. Theodore Roosevelt had snakes (lots of them), and at their summer White House - a lion, hyena, bears, zebra . . . Happy Presidents Day to you too.

I thoroughly enjoyed this hub, Sally. Fascinating tidbits about these very famous me; I was shocked to read that Nixon won so much money playing poker during WWII or that Coolidge rode an electronic horse in the White House. Well done.

Truckstop Sally profile image

Truckstop Sally Hub Author 15 months ago

GennaEast, Thanks for your note. I'm not sure if the info is weird or just makes us realize they were all real people too with silly quirks and hang-ups - just like the rest of us. Maybe you are right -- an electronic horse at home. Maybe that is too much! ha!

When it comes to Refurbished Office Furniture, people tend to ask just one question, “Why should I opt for this?”. The answer is simple enough, “Price”. Refurbished Office Furniture implies you get quality product at a discounted price for all your office furniture needs.
